Ben “Yahtzee” Croshawgames

A while ago I bumped into this series of very funny game video-reviews called Zero Punctuation – a good place to start watching is the comparison between the titles inFamous and Prototype, here (the series are more or less in the line of Angry Nintendo Nerd).

The videos are done by Ben “Yahtzee” Croshaw, author of famous games (at least in the indie scene) such as 5 Days A Stranger, 7 Days A Skeptic and and many others. For other stuff, check out his site at Fully Ramblomatic.

PS: for anyone who cares about the adventure games genre, I recomend hearing  what he has to say about it.

Ahn. Hm.audio

Sound experiment based on the audio of an interview from the “radio” show The Sound of Young America.

The idea behind this was to remove all almost all audio except for the portions referring to the secondary functions of language, like the emotive (non-verbal sounds) and the phatic (referring to the message itself or to the communication channel).

The Sound of Young America is a great show hosted by Jesse Thorn, who kindly gave me the permission to use the audio in this work. The guest in the audio used is cartoon artist Ariel Schrag.

Hear the original audio on the show’s website, here (opens in a new window/tab).

O Meio é o Fimanimation

Animation for the music “O Meio é o Fim” (in english, “The middle/means is/are the end”) from the brazilian band Radiare. Watch it on vimeo or on youtube (select HD!).

View some stills here. Listen to Radiare at their myspace page.

Kuadriculadofont

Minimalist pixel font. View it here and download it at dafont.

Kuadriculado was created with the purpose of representing all the characters using the smallest possible grid and the least number of pixels. Better used in titles and short text.

Learninteractive

In this interactive application, the virtual agents (the blue balls) move according to gestures defined by the user. The agents follow a simple artificial life algorithm  – they are born, they learn, they move around according to the movements they have learned, eventually they produce new agents and finally they die.

Interact with Learn here.

Promotionillustration

Work exhibited at the XXXV International Humor Exhibition of Piracicaba (2008), in the “Vanguard” category. “Promotion” is a partially covered illustration that can be revealed by the public . It is part of a series called “Revelations”.

View the work here.

Edit: for some of the other works I liked in the exhibition, check out the original post in portuguese here.

City Musicvideo

Time-lapse video of São Paulo. Watch it here.

The soundtrack is made of sounds that were associated with certain activities on the video (lights going on/off, windows opening/closing, etc.). The result is a composition made by myself and the rhythms of the city.

I captured one frame every ten minutes for 24 hours, in the area of Baixo Augusta.
